Kuala Selangor Wader Watch 14 August 2022
This is my first wader watching trip for this season. I must say that I was excited and was really hoping to see something. Well see something I said and I was not disappointed. High tide roast was early morning. So what are the wader we encounter this time around.
Common Redshank in number which is increasing.
Flock of other wader include the Lesser Sand Plover, Curlew Sandpiper, Red Necked Stint, Terek Sand Piper
The flock of wader was also observed drinking from a small drain. Video was not easy with the condition I was provided.
A beautifully sunning Grey Heron.
Other species observed as in below
Sanderling - A group of 2 was observed before too flight immediately
Bridled Tern - One was observed off shore through scope
Jeager sp - one Jeager sp was observed off shore through scope. The eager was consistently chasing another tern presumably common tern for food. Full id was not possible.
Lesser Adjutant - A small group up to about 10 individual was observed on mudflat after the tide retreated
Painted Stork - A group of about 5 was observed with the Lesser Adjutant in the mudflat.
