Yellow Vented Bulbul (Opportunistic observation of nest)
During my recent trip back to my hometown I manage to sight and observed opportunistically on a nesting Yellow Vented Bulbul. This was amazing as although it was not the first time this was just beside the car. This was actually a free standing species with no geographical variation was documented. To add in some interesting sexes are similar and there is no difference in the observation here. The nest was situation about 5feet from the ground. Other detail and measurement were not documented. This species was also interesting where is almost nested round the year.
In term of behaviour, the pair tend to the nestling together. With both bringing in food to the nestling. This was confirmed as occasionally both were around with food. Nevertheless they only enter the nest one at the time. Majority of the food Brough in to the nestling were either caterpillar, small lizard and insect. At least up to 95% of all food consist of this. In a few occasion small berry were brought in. Food were taken within 50meter from the nest. Bird feed at the rate of every 7 minute shortest and 12 minute interval. If bird were feeding at 12 init interval usually both parent will be around together while 7 minute interval majority one at the time.
Below are some picture for example on the nesting food intake.
