Wader Watching Selangor MY11 16 September 2020
I must admit I have neglected wader for like lets say since the beginning of time (when I started birding). So I guess it is time I brush up my knowledge on this group. After my last week unplanned exploration this time around it was a planned exploration. So headed to the coast with a group of friend. We got some interesting egret including this one from a heronry.
Along the coast tern was one of our main topic. So let's say we got some and technically 2 species was observed and photograph. The Gull Billed Tern...
...and the Little Tern
Moving around the mudflat in the middle of the day is challenging of which today humidity was very high. One of the species we saw was this Ruddy Turnstone. There was at least 6 of them around with different plumage.
Not to be missed was this Sanderling. I must admit that when I first saw the Sanderling once upon a time ago someone else help me the id. After that a few other sighting and a huge gap yet today I do need some assistant for confirmation. Sanderling it is.
Other commoner species such as this Lesser Sand Plover was nice to fly near enough for some photo.
Moving on was other species such as this Brown Shrike.
I must say although tiring day but it was a great day. It was also fun to be with some friend especially those #notsopopularbirders and day ended well with all the birds we need.
