Taiping

Taiping is where I started birding. This time around time around I steal 3 hours from my family to do some birding and Digiscoping. I must say a rewarding day out. All photo below are taken through digiscope.

We decided to pay a visit in a park near by our house with the hope that it provide a relaxing walk with some Digiscope opportunity. We got more than expected.

The first to make its way into our view was some Pied Trailler and some king fisher but soon we got more opportunity for photography. The Greater Flameback both Mae and female was the first opportunity we have.

A video of the female

Next was this Great Tit. I must say this is a species not easy to digiscope. I need to work extra hard controlling the scope and moving it to follow the bird and another hand ready to press the shutter release. But the effort was pay off with a shot below.

While working on the Great Tit, this Ashy Tailorbird also give me a second opportunity for some shot.

Our highlight was this Rufous Woodpecker which was building nest on and and nest. Both male and female was observed and both male and female participated in excavating the nest cavity. Each wander nearby every time the other was working on the nest.

Here is a video of the Rufous Woodpecker excavating the nest.
