Pulau Indah 4 July 2020

I must say after MCO birding become more important to take a break. However time may not necessary be on our site for example this week it is surprising busy with many appointment I decided we need to make a shorter trip. One of the site which I have not been almost a year was Pulau Indah in Klang area. Situated directly next to the coast the birding site have yield many interesting species including Imperial Eagle (Years ago), Booted Eagle and evening site for migratory raptor.

So we set of. both of us headed to the area in the morning but there is a stop we need to make before birding. Our regular roti canal shop just before entering the birding site. :)

All right long story shot we are greater immediately with a Male Laced Woodpecker but flew into the Oil palm plantation. Not long later other bird seem to make their way out sunning themselves. One of which is the Lesser Coucal. A species that I will say rather common in this area.

House crow another common species we seen in the area.

What interesting we got is this 4 Black Winged Kite (Previously known as Black Shouldered Kite). All four were adult with one pair remain on the same nesting tree. Nevertheless there was no evidence of breeding nor there was any evidence of juvenile around. This tree yield a few nest previous year however this is not the case this year. Pair stood nearby each other. Annoyingly even after years of observation of this pair they are still very sensitive to human presence.

Walking around the beach was also not bad. A pair of Collared Kingfisher around.

In all the 2 hours visit to the place was not bad. Other species seen in the 2 hours including the good number of Red Wattled Lapwing. Also calling everywhere are the Zitting Cristicola but none were good distance for any photography. Some weird looking Pipit which eventually identified as Paddyfield Pipit. Total of 20 plus  species in the 2 hours in such location was not so bad.
