This time we show about the
Lophotriorchis kienerii kienerii. This race is the commonest race to be seen here in the Peninsula Malaysia. Many individual documented was from this species. This subspecies is seen throughout the year making them highly the resident subspecies in the country. This species usually show more heavier barring and more marking compare the the
formasus. This species also sometimes show a little brownish tinge on the upperwing which is usually solid black in
formasus. Below are a few picture from this subspecies.

Identification between this two subspecies required highly train eyed unless for that they appear to be similar. Many times it appear no different in plumage where i can sort them out. Nevertheless the effort of identified this subspecies is crucial as many detials of this species remain unknow. In Malaysia there is still no nest observed. Though many said
formasus is the only subspecies in Borneo and Sumantra, this however have prove otherwise. Many specimen and sighting were from this subspecies as well. Clearly more work need for this species.
