Putrajaya 3 July 2022

It all started with the idea to take a short birding walk in Botanical Garden. When arrived we were told that for camera we need to pay and get approval. REALY!!!!! and they have the idea to promote birding tourism with no charismatic bird can be commonly sighted there. You got to be kidding me. Honestly I don't mind entrance fee for maintenance however camera fee sorry not a single penny is coming out from me as after so many years of birding, my personal view is that I don't see that this is worth the price at least not here not even a ringgit.

Therefore we decided to skip the location and just stick a long the road and take what ever bird come along. We were note very disappointed on this matter. First one where we stop by the road side was this Grey Heron. A few of them around but only one which is within our digiscoping range.

Second which make its way into our list was the Purple Heron. I never really see them side by side today in this location but they were all within the same area.

Walking further down we observed this Purple Swamphen (Grey Headed Swamphen) depending on the taxon one is using.

We also have some opportunity to observed the Swamphen feeding. See the video below.

In additional to that, one of the birding friend called with a nesting Black Naped Oriole. A quick rush to another site for this oriole we found that only one nestling. I wander what happen to the other one.

While waiting for the Oriole to return a Scarlet Backed Flowerpecker came and keep us entertain but only my wife some some shot of it. :)

In all I don't believe we missed anything skipping the Botanical Garden and just drive and stop around putrajaya area but perhaps since there is not many species which is would say charismatic I think we will skip putrajaya for a long time to come. :(
