Kuala Sepetang Mangrove Walk 10 July 2022

Not far from my house was this location a mangrove broadwalk. Both Eileen and myself mention we should make a point to visit this park and is at point under utilised. There is an entrances charges and we hope they more people they and self sustain and manage a broadwalk.

This location have never fail to amaze me with the species we can see. Even today we started off with some Olive Winged Bulbul, and Velvet Fronted Nuthatch. It is probably one of the few place I can see a nuthatch with almost confirmed sighting and on a mangrove. Walking around the area was also rewarding. While I was informed there was a pair of Oriental Pied Hornbill - which I did not see it- in one of my visit we spotted up to 50 Oriental Pied Hornbill. Some other common species we have today were the Chestnut Winged Babbler.

This species is also very common in this mangrove though not so in the KSNP.

Other species which make its way to our list were the Collared Kingfisher one which have probably took a dive.

Next in line was this fine find of the Copper Throated Sunbird. Both male and female come toward us with some great view before we decided to took some shot of the Sunbird.

Copper throated Sunbird - Female

The male was first observed with some. spider looking animal on its bill could have been some sort of insect.
...and provided us with some good view as well:)

In all it was still a quite day. I still remember those time when we nailed 60 species in one morning and that was an exciting day. I still missed my target species here. Well perhaps better luck next time.
