Collared Scops Owl

Being the most easily seen scops owl in Malaysia this species is most probably make it into many people list. Nevertheless having their small size they can be very difficult to be seen at times. This species is also currently know as the Sunda Scops Owl after the split. Preferred habitat for this species is mostly on forest edge, park, and lots of time on bamboo. If you housing area have good wooded area, it is never surprising to find one calling near your house.

Do not get fool by the size as well. Though maybe small they have great voice which can be hear hundred of meter away. Once one individual was track down 400 meter away from the point it was heard calling. Our team rush into action and found a pair calling high up in the tree.

Another photograph today probably after nesting was taking their usual rest in their usual spot.
