Harrier Observation : Eastern Marsh Harrier

It is the time of the year again and after a while out from birding my wife and I decided to head to to one of my usual location for some raptor. I was not disappointed in my first raptor watching this time. The number of harrier was great and some provided good photographic opportunity. This male Eastern Marsh Harrier decided to perch on the oil palm. Although skittish still provide some good opportunity for photography.

Not only the male provide this opportunity, the female did put up a show for us as well.

This location is one of the best to know learn and understand aging for harrier and Aquila eagle. This time around the harrier provide the same opportunity.

Subadult or 2nd plumage female

Lastly a few juvenile which make up the day as well.

In all this was a great day. We also spotted a flock of Oriental Honey Buzzard migrating pass this location making it more crucial for us to understand the land use.
3 greater Spotted Eagle was also observed but this will be in the next posting.
