Understanding raptor - White Bellied Sea Eagle (Part 1)
This is a simple almost unmistakable raptor in field. Without any subspecies this remain one of the most successful coastal raptor in South East Asia. To began with is number of plumage to take note off. As mention earlier without subspecies variation this make it much easier for us, as our focus now is into age-class. Total of 5 age class with 5 plumage variation distinctively observed in field
Age-Class as below
1st Plumage - 1 to >2 year
2nd Plumage - 2to >3 year
3rd plumage - 3 to >4 year
4th plumage - 4 to >5 year
5th plumage - 5th year onwards
Too many the 1st 3rd year and full grown adult plumage are most observed. In later part we will discuss differentiating the different plumage of White Bellied Sea Eagle.
