Jungle weirdo - The Jungle Myna
I got this picture of slightly weird plumage of the jungle myna. In any way I still take a shot of it though I was looking for the indian roller. Looking at it wasn't a bad shot after all. Anyway there was another rarity I was looking for at the time. The white-shouldered starling was just sighted before this picture was taken...

White-shouldered!!! I want, only seen huge flying flock at Vietnam so far...
ReplyDeletehaha.. nice that you have went to vietnam before. i hope to go there too.
ReplyDeleteOnly picked up three lifers when I was in Vietnam as I am travelling with a friend, so can't allocate birding time like the rest of my foreign work trips. I saw these huge flocks of starlings at Central Vietnam where Purple-backed Starling do not occur and White-shouldered is very common, but we are on a boat and I simply can't focus and have a good look on them at perch due to the bouncing effect of the boat. But with naked eye, seeing the huge formation of them flying off and perch back at the cliff is still pretty impressive to watch. Another lifer of mine is the Japanese White-eye which is a very common town bird there which you could easily find and the Pied Harriers are seen beside the flight paths when we are on the plane. Due to the tight schedule, will definitely visit Vietnam again for their endemics in the future.
DeleteComing back to the Jungle Myna, not sure why, I just had not came across a freak, but quite a number of you had managed to photograph one...... hehe.
haha nice nice...... how i can go too
